I’ve Served as President of the following Organizations: Tennessee Association for the Education of Young Children, Tennessee Association for Child Care, Tennessee Conference for Social Welfare and the Southern Early Childhood Association, Southern Community Services Executive Institute and several local organizations. I’ve also been involved with the Child Welfare League of America and Co Chair their Early Care and Education Committee. I also work with the National Women’s Law Center and the Children’s Defense Fund

Short Bio

Phil Acord is Executive Director of the Children's Home, a nonprofit early care and education agency in Chattanooga, Tennessee. In addition, Phil created and administers a multi-sight alliance of early care and education programs that purchase management services from the Children's Home. The alliance includes 10 small ECE programs who participate in the alliance, including: fiscal management and human resources, all billing/fee collection, staff support (many staff positions are centralized), training and technical assistance, child assessments, USDA food programs administration, and others. Total budget for the Children's Home and alliance management is around 5 million annually. Collectively, the programs employ over a 100 full time staff and about 400 part time staff. Phil has been with the Children's Home/Chambliss Shelter for 35 years.
