Short Bio

Ellen Dektar has been coordinator of the Alameda County Local Investment in Child Care (LINCC) Project since 2001. LINCC was initiated by The David and Lucile Packard Foundation in a handful of California counties to coordinate child care facilities development with land use and economic development planning. Through this project she has worked with cities, developers and the child care field to develop child care oriented land use and economic development policies and strategies. Prior to her current position, she spent more than a dozen years building collaborations and working on a range of child and family policy issues as an analyst and planner for The Children’s Defense Fund, California Senator Gary K. Hart, the California Senate Health and Human Services Committee, and the San Francisco Mayor’s Office of Children, Youth and their Families.
